Hyundai Motor India Limited is one of the largest car exporter and Hyundai is second largest car manufacturer in India. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Korean based Hyundai Motor Company, which was founded by Chung Ju-Yung in the year 1967.
The word ‘Hyundai’ means modernity and the company strives hard to bring modernity in the looks and technology of its cars in various segments. Hyundai cars are patented by the slanting ‘H’ badge. It is suggestive of the company and the customer shaking hands, which will finally lead to global expansion.
Hyundai‘s design philosophy is named as fluidic sculpture and it is deeply enthused by nature. Hyundai cars generally sport an old charisma along with new looks and are packed with latest comfort and safety technologies. A Hyundai car really comes into its fundamentals in the city with its easy manoeuvrability and nimble disposition. Their interiors are always quite impressive and comfortable. Their engines are quite innovative or just awesome and many a times even tend to be game-changers. Hyundai cars come in attractive and pleasing colours.
Hyundai marked its presence in the Indian car market with the Santro. Soon after, they brought out the Getz, but it did not do too well in the market. In time, the radical new small Santro car progressed into the Xing and also initiated another hatchback, the i10. The company regained its lost popularity with the i10 and the i20.
Hyundai sells several models in India, the most popular being the Santro Xing, i10, Hyundai Eon and the i20. Hyundai has also launched the Grand i10 in both petrol and diesel variants. The Getz, Accent, Elantra, second generation Verna, Santa Fe and the Sonata Transform are other new Hyundai models. It currently markets ten car models across segments – in the A2 segment it has the Eon, Santro, i10, Grand, Xcent and the i20, in the A3 segment the Verna, in the A4 segment the Elantra, in the A5 segment Sonata and in the SUV segment the Santa Fe.
Hyundai cars have some complaints as well among all other praises. A light steering and a bumpy ride on extremely bad roads could be seen as a minus. However, the company does hold out a promise of a fairly smooth ride in regular city conditions. NVH levels are also not very impressive in few Hyundai cars.
Hyundai is putting up stiff competition with other car manufacturing giants like Maruti Suzuki, Ford, Volkswagen, Toyota, Honda, Chevrolet, Mahindra and the Tatas, with their competitive prices. Hyundai has sales outlets, service centres and enormous plants in almost all countries as it has buyers across the globe.
